Title: From beta decay to double beta decay through unification

Abstract: Starting from the role of quark mixing in nuclear beta decay, the CKM matrix for mixings of three generations will be discussed. Unification of strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions will be pointed out in non-SUSY and SUSY GUTs with specific role of Pati-Salam symmetry for quark-lepton unification. Starting from lepton mixings identical to quark mixings at high scales, it will be shown how low-energy neutrino oscillation data are explained for quasi-degenerate Majorana neutrino masses measurable by neutrinoless double beta decay experiments.
