Title: Unzipping an adsorbed polymer and DNA by force

Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss the unzipping of a double stranded DNA (dsDNA) and an adsorbed polymer under the influence of a pulling force. The dsDNA unzips to two single strands (and the polymer from the surface) if the pulling force exceeds a critical value. By using techniques like the generating function and the exact transfer matrix, we have obtained the phase diagrams in both the fixed distance and the fixed force ensembles. We found that the dsDNA can also be unzipped by pulling a single strand, which in the presence of an attractive surface shows a very rich phase diagram with a critical end point. We will also discuss the effect of random forces in DNA unzipping.
