Title: Investigations on dark matter by DAMA/LIBRA and results on some other rare processes

Speaker: Dr. Pierluigi Belli, INFN, Italy

Abstract: The DAMA experiment at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory of INFN is an observatory for investigating several rare processes and, in particular, the Dark Matter (DM) in the galactic halo and the double beta decays. The positive results of DAMA/LIBRA (about 250 kg highly radiopure NaI(Tl)), obtained by exploiting the model independent annual modulation signature for the presence of DM particles in the galactic halo, will be discussed. The data of the former DAMA/NaI and of the DAMA/LIBRA-phase1 satisfy all the many requirements of the DM annual modulation signature at high confidence level. Presently DAMA/LIBRA is in data taking in the new configuration (DAMA/LIBRA phase2) with higher quantum efficiency PMTs. Results, implications and experimental perspectives will be addressed. As regards the investigations on double beta decays, several decay modes on various isotopes are investigated in the other DAMA set-ups, achieving interesting results; some of them will be outlined.
