Title:Projective Eigenvalue Algorithms and Applications

Abstract: Recently developed eigenvalue algorithms are based on numerically approximating contour integrals of the resolvent. These algorithms work by approximately projecting random samples onto the eigenspace associated with the eigenvalues within the contour. The talk will introduce several variant algorithms for generalized and quadratic eigenvalue problems, present a preliminary probabilistic analysis of the effectiveness of these algorithms for counting eigenvalues within the contour using inexpensive quadrature schemes, and discuss some potential applications of these algorithms.
