Title: Nonlinear Schrodinger equation with PT-symmetric potentials: analytical solutions

Speaker: Prof. Barnana Roy, Physics & Applied Mathematics Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata

Abstract: PT-symmetry started out in non-Hermitian quantum mechanics, where complex potentials obeying PT-symmetry exhibit real spectra. This concept later spread out to Nonlinear Optics, Bose-Einstein condensates and many other physical fields. Nonlinear PT-symmetric systems can support solitons and periodic structures as solutions to nonlinear Schrodinger equation. In this talk the existence and stability of (i) spatial solitons and periodic modes of nonlinear Schrodinger equation with spatially modulated nonlinearity and PT-symmetric potentials and (ii) bright-dark and dark-dark solitons in a coupled nonlinear Schrodinger system featuring PT-symmetric potentials will be discussed.
