About the speaker: Born in 1948, Dr. Ranganth Ramarao Navulgund did his M.Sc. (1970) from IIT, Bombay and Ph.D. (1977) from TIFR Mumbai. He had long, illustrious career at SAC–ISRO, Ahmedabad, NRSA (DOS). He is well known for providing leadership role in the development of electro-optical sensors for IRS series of satellites, and in evolving and executing national level Remote Sensing Application Programmes. He is well recognized with many scientific awards, Fellow, Indian Academy of Sciences, Fellow, IGU, ISRO Performance Excellence Award 2008, ISRO Outstanding Achievement Award 2007 and many more. He is member of various international committees and international assignments took him to many countries. He is also well known for his public lectures on topics such as space technology for societal benefits, India Earth Observation Program for Disaster Management etc.
