Update: 12 September 2015: IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Accommodation for participants has been arranged at
    • National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Backside of Guru Gobind Singh College for Boys, Sector 26, Chandigarh. (Roughly 4 km from Railway station, 5 km from ISBT Sector 17).
    • Panjab University Guest House/s, Sector 14, Chandigarh Note: Please bring along a Towel, Single Bed-Sheet and toiletries for your personal use.

    Check your accommodation in the list uploaded here, for male and female participants.

  2. Volunteers will be present to receive students at Railway Station; especially during the period 15th afternoon - 17th 8:00 AM covering all major train timings. Participants should exit through Platform No. 1 and look out for volunteers near the Main Enquiry Counter. On your train reaching Ambala (last station before Chandigarh, approx. 40 km), send an SMS. Names and mobile numbers are given below.

  3. Participants, who are reaching by bus, can take an auto and reach to the respective guest houses as mentioned in the list. The rate list is given below. You can call volunteer and give / get information.

  4. Participants who are reaching to the NITTTR / PU guest house/s by themselves should contact the following volunteers:

  5. The participants, who are reaching Chandigarh, after 8.00 A.M. on 17th September, should reach directly at the Symposium venue i.e. Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. They will be shifted to the respective accommodation by the organizers.

Look for pre-paid auto service. Otherwise, fix the price (bargain) before getting into auto.

Updated list of oral/poster presentation is available here.

Oral presentations shall be 12-15 minutes with another 2-3 minutes for question and answers. Bring your presentation on pendrive. There will be three poster sessions. In each poster session, there will be 15 posters. Space for each poster is A0 size single sheet or approximately 12-16 A4 size sheets.

Submission of complete full manuscript (as per template in word / tex file) is compulsory for travel reimbursement. You can send soft copy to nssp@pu.ac.in or submit on the first day of the symposium.

Schedule of the program, accommodation details, volunteers names/mobile numbers and pick-up details shall be posted latest by 13 September 2015, Saturday evening.

Local participants: Please contact Ms. Ritu Pal, Research Scholar, Physics Department. PU for payment of registration fee in cash and collect the receipt. If needed, contact her over email (maan.ritupal@gmail.com).

Outstation participants: Please send by email, if you have not done yet, your confirmation along with the details of registration fee payment - bank transfer details or scanned copy of DD. DD via post can reach us late. Also, multiple students from the same place can make one single DD and intimate the names. DD via post should be sent to Dr. C.N. Kumar, Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh-160014. Selected participants should not wait for any further confirmation. Once you finalise your travel arrangements, send us your arrival details (train name, arrival time). Accommodation details, pick-up arrangements, volunteers' names shall be posted on the website well in time.

Last date for application has been extended to 14 August 2015. Selected students will be informed by 18 August 2015 via email and they will have to send their acceptance by post by 27 August 2015 along with registration fee of Rs. 500 through DD drawn in favour of "Indian Association of Physics Teachers", payable at Chandigarh. Alternatively, students can pay the registration fee via online transfer to the IAPT account (A/c No. 10444977769, IFSC code SBIN0000742, MICR Code 160002009) and send the acceptance along with fee transfer details via email by 27 August 2015.

To foster a culture of innovation and creativity among the young students, IAPT has instituted the annual National Student Symposium on Physics (NSSP). The first and second in the series were held in the years 2013 and 2014 in collaboration with Department of Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The Symposium provides a national forum to young students to present their new ideas and innovative work at an early stage. The third in the series, NSSP-2015, will be held during 17–19 September 2015.

In addition to the invited talks by experts, there will be oral and poster presentations by the students.

The undergraduate and postgraduate students with physics background can apply for the symposium latest by July 31, 2015 August 14, 2015. Registration fee of Rs. 500 shall be collected from selected participants. Local hospitality and limited travel support (bus or sleeper class by train) shall be provided to students. Application form and other details are available on the registration page.
