General Information and Objective

Three day workshop is aimed at providing platform for the presentation of the state of the art pertaining to current trends in Atomic and Molecular Physics with a special emphasis on the VUV lazer Spectroscopy and the spectroscopic studies with the Synchrotron radiation source. Other topics related to spectroscopic studies of Atoms and Molecules also form a significant part of workshop. The workshop has a wide scope, ranging from pure spectroscopy of atoms and Molecules to be recently started pursuits like Bose-Einstein condensation in alkali atoms and study of atoms and molecules in intense fields. In addition, use of Raman Spectroscopy for monitoring electronic structure of big molecules will be discussed. There will be a panel discussion to deliberate on further strengthening of the labs engaged in this activity in the country.

Other objective of the workshop is to offer an opportunity to the participants to interact with each other.

In and Around the City

The city beautiful, as Le-Corbusier's Chandigarh is called, is located in the picturesque surroundings in the foothills of Shivalik mountain range. The city is famous for Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake, Museum-Art Gallery and Gandhi Bhawan (in Pu Campus). Other places worth visiting are Capital Complex, Open Hand monument and Shopping Centre in Sector 17. Terraced Moghal Gardens of 17th Century at Pinjore (22 Kms) are treat for the eyes. Shimla, a famous hill station (110 kms) is worth visiting. For fauna lovers, Chhat Bir Zoo (20 Kms) is close by.
