Research
interests:
Physics
and Chemistry of materials in bulk and nanoscales, chemical physics, nanoscience and nanotechnology. High
pressure and high temperature effects on structural, electronic and
lattice dynamical properties, production and characterization of
nanosized materials, especially carbon
nanotubes and fullerenes, ion- irradiation
using heavy and swift ions on thin film samples of carbon nanotubes and fullerenes, strength and toughness
study of carbon nanotube embedded in glass
and polymer composites, shock impact study. Energetic materials and
nanoenergetic materials, green polynitrogen based high energy nanoscale materials. Hetero fullerenes, graphene and newer materials of carbon, boron
and nitrogen and their mixtures.
Teaching
Experience: Taught at Physics
Department since past nearly 3 and half decades. Taught several
courses to undergraduate and post graduate students. The courses
taught more frequently involve Solid State Physics and Mathematical
Physics in addition to elementary courses involving modern physics,
heat and thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism. Introduced
several new experiments in postgraduate lab and nanotechnology lab.
Guided new and innovative projects leading useful experiments for
students of
M.Sc. , M.Phil and M.Tech degrees.
